PGT-A (Preimplantation Genetic Testing For Aneuploidy)
To determine whether embryo is having correct set of chromosomes and screens for chromosomal abnormalities like extra or missing chromosomes, which can lead to conditions such as Down syndrome.
This Procedure Is Offered To
- couples undergoing IVF who are at increased risk for aneuploidy
- Maternal age >35 years
- History of previous pregnancy with trisomy
- Patients with recurrent pregnancy loss.
- PGT helps to achieve pregnancy in a short period of time by transferring genetically normal embryos
- Prior failed IVF cycles
- For patients who have experienced more than three failed embryo transfers with high-quality, morphologically normal embryos, PGT may be considered.
- Requesting PGD for HLA typing
- To select embryos that are compatible with living siblings, PGD can be used to match histocompatibility for potential stem cell donation or other medical purposes.
